RAM vs ROM

|Can be written to and read from.
||Can only read from.
|Holds program being run and data being processed.
||Stores data and programs permanently.
|Volatile: it is cleared when the computer is switched off.
||Non-volatile: it retains what is stored when the computer is turned off.
|RAM microchips are supplied as a module plugged into the motherboard.
||ROM microchips are installed in the motherboard.
